Expert support: how we prepare you for admission

Once the target educational institutions have been chosen, the most crucial stage begins — preparing and submitting the documents. This is precisely where most applicants going it alone make critical mistakes: they write motivation letters that are too generic, forget to attach important certificates, miss deadlines or fill in the online forms incorrectly.

Smart Edu Services takes on this entire volume of work, but does not do it instead of the student — we do it together with the student, teaching them to present themselves correctly.

Our expert support includes:

1. Preparing the motivation letter
The motivation letter is the most important document in the application package. It is what the admissions committee uses to assess how deliberately the student is choosing the programme, whether they understand their strengths and weaknesses, and whether they can clearly articulate their career goals. We do not write the letters for the students — we teach them to write convincingly, sincerely and with structure. We help them find the right wording, avoid clichés and templates, and tailor the letter to the requirements of each specific university.

2. Putting together an academic CV
For Master’s, doctoral and many professional programmes, a CV is a required document. We help structure the information: education, work experience, research projects, publications, certificates, skills. We know how to format a CV to the standards of different countries — in the USA, for example, it is customary to include a section on interests and hobbies, while in Germany you must state the dates of each position down to the month.

3. Obtaining letters of recommendation
Letters of recommendation from teachers or employers are an independent assessment of the student’s potential. We advise on whom it is best to ask for recommendations (the most senior teacher is not always the best choice; what matters more is someone who knows the student well and can give specific examples of their achievements), how to word the request correctly and how to help the referee write a letter that will meet the admissions committee’s expectations.

4. Preparing a portfolio (for creative disciplines)
For those applying for architecture, design, fashion, art, music or theatre, the portfolio is a key element of the application. We help select the best works, format them correctly, write descriptions and technical specifications, and prepare the portfolio in line with the requirements of each specific university (format, size, method of submission — online gallery, PDF, physical portfolio).

5. Preparing for entrance exams and interviews
Some programmes require standardised tests (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT) or an interview with admissions committee representatives. We provide access to preparation materials, organise mock tests and run practice interviews, so the student feels confident on the day of the real exam or interview.

6. Gathering and preparing documents
We draw up a document checklist for each educational institution, help collect certificates and transcripts, translate them into the required language (a notarised translation or a translation with an apostille — we know what is needed in each specific case), and correctly fill in all the online forms and applications.

7. Meeting deadlines
Every university has its own application deadlines — early deadline (Early Decision), regular deadline (Regular Decision), the deadline for international students, the deadline for scholarship applications. We create a deadline calendar for each student and make sure all documents are submitted on time.
