A journey to a school, language or sports camp abroad begins long before you board the plane. For your adaptation to go smoothly and your studies to be comfortable, it is important to prepare thoroughly. We have put together a detailed list of what to take with you, so that you feel at home and don’t waste time searching for the things you need once you arrive.

Keep all your documents in a separate folder in your hand luggage. Print them in two copies: keep one with you and put the other in your parents’ suitcase or keep an electronic backup.
A passport with a valid visa.
The document confirming enrolment at the school/camp (it contains the contact details and emergency phone number).
The school’s «Before you travel» instructions (Pre-arrival form — not all institutions have one, but if there is one — be sure to print it).
Transfer confirmation (who is meeting you and where).
Medical insurance (arrange the policy in advance).
Flight tickets (we recommend printing them so you don’t mix up the date, time and terminal).
Electronics and stationery:
A smartphone with a charger (or two). A power bank will come in very handy.
An adapter (plug adapter), as socket standards differ from country to country.
A pencil case with pens, pencils and a small notebook.
Personal hygiene and everyday items:
Toiletries: deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste (you can take travel-size sets).
A towel (although the school usually provides one, your own may come in handy on the way or at the beach).
Sun protection (cream, sunglasses, a cap/sun hat).
A small combination padlock for the locker in your room (not required everywhere, but it’s better to have one).
Clothing (a universal list):
Several T-shirts, 2 pairs of shorts.
A tracksuit (trousers + jacket).
A raincoat or waterproof cape (more convenient and lighter than an umbrella).
Jeans or trousers for everyday wear.
Underwear and a set of nightwear.
Swimming trunks or a swimsuit (if swimming is planned).
Comfortable footwear (trainers, boots — better to take several pairs).
A sports bag or rucksack for excursions.
Pocket money: you will need money for purchases on excursions or in shops near the school.
What NOT to bring with you: Schools are not responsible for keeping expensive items safe. Leave at home:
Expensive electronics (games consoles, professional cameras).
Expensive jewellery and watches.
Parents’ credit cards and large amounts of cash.
Important: Take into account your airline’s requirements for baggage weight and dimensions. The school cannot pay for excess or oversized baggage. Have a great trip and productive studies!
